We are now growing even bigger and better!

First off we would like to thank you all for being a part of making Dotalicious as popular as it is. Without all of you we wouldn't be where we are now and it's a wonderful feeling to have all of your support behind us!
It's been 18 months since we first launched. At that point we had less than 100 members after a month. Now, a year and a half later we have nearly 90,000 members, 2500 DotA 1 games per day meaning a game starts every 30 seconds on average.

We are now proud to continue our expansion by introducing the following:

A premium shop - Here you can improve your experience by upgrading your account to unlock a lot of limited features such as playing 1v1 games, full access to the dungeon without being banned, setting your own welcome messages when joining game lobbies and changing your account name among many other things.
Important to remember is that we will never force you to buy anything. Your current account will always have what is has now and we only wish to extend your experience and not limit it. We will never either give ingame advantages to paying members unlike in some other games Cough *lol* cough...  ;)
Dotalicious remains free to use and free to play.
Due to our growth being as big as it is we require a lot more resources these days. Supporting us by purchasing a premium account or one of our item tokens is a way for you to help us pay our bills as well as continue to grow.
Everyone will still gain new features as we continue to implement improvements and new functions while our premium users will be able to use services that require much more of our resources which is why we have to limit them.

To start this off, we will be giving out 200 free 7-day trials later today! So make sure to grab one before they're out.
Get them now in our shop: http://www.dotalicious-gaming.com/index.php?action=dota;area=shop

Things coming soon: (for free of course)

Dota 2 games for the public - Everybody will soon be able to use Dotalicious to organise and find games for DotA 2. This mean a range of benefits for you as a Dota 2 player. You still need your own key as we do not provide one for you.

The new skill level system for Dota 1 - This is currently running in the background and gathering information. It needs to do this a little longer so that we can fluidly start using the new system without any detrimental effects to you, our users like resetting your stats etc.

Dota 2 League season 1 and season 2 update

At first we want to thank all active players who participated with motivation and engagement!

We proudly present season one's winners:

Most games played: Nova.AT

A huge thanks to the staff-members that have been involved and of course all the players that help make and create the place they themselves are playing in!
A special thanks to Hades^ for stepping up while i was forced away so unexpectedly.

Not enough gaming?
DotAlicious 2 Vouch League will continue until january 15 for the time being before stats are reset. We are offering a signed (by Aussie) DotAlicious-Gaming T-Shirt to the first, second and third place, so you can still win a high-quality prize.

The stats from games starting December 15 16th until games finishing before midnight January 15th will be counted.
(Yes, we can separate these stats in our database without having to reset the rankings. The reason for doing this is to keep the Matchmaking system more accurate for these games.)
Due to you all being whiny little school girls i'll reset the stats in the morning!  >:(

About the future
In 2012, we will be starting the Dota 2 public skill league, similar to that one we are currently running for DotA 1. Outstanding players will have the chance there to prove themselves decent for the Dota 2 Vouch League, which will launch it's second season in the beginning of 2012 with fresh content!
Our plan was to start this already before Christmas, but due to it being utterly impossible to work from here in China we haven't managed to finish the preparations needed in time.

All applications for the DotAlicious 2 Vouch League belong in here: http://www.dotalicious-gaming.com/index.php/board,50.0.html
Please make sure to read the stickies before applying.

There will only be one division, which is designed for exclusively high-skilled and professional players, who belong in the Top 200. The Vouch-System will be a bit harsher, meaning it's highly likely that some players will be unvouched and some more than before will be denied. So do your best to prove yourself fitting!
Inactive players will also be removed. Once removed it will be very hard for you to get in again.

You can STOP applying for the public Dota 2 system opening after new years. As soon as the code is done and we know exactly how it's working then we can describe how to apply and if you even need to apply. Relax guys.

Again, thank you to everyone for being a part of this. I hope to see it become even better and bigger in the coming weeks and especially for the start of Season 2!

And remember, no one worth anything uses IRC based leagues anymore ( 8) ). We will just continue to pioneer and become better and better constantly with our platform!

Remember guys, It's because you are here that we can do this. Your support is vital!

Dota 2 League

We will be starting a league shortly for Dota 2.
The leagues first month has now ended after a successful run, stay tuned for more news!

This league will allow Dota 2 players to find games and use our ranking system to play Dota2 or even find scrims and cw's for your teams. As nearly all VL players have Dota2 keys already i see no need to keep putting energy into that and will be changing it for the future but for the moment i would rather focus on Dota 2.

We will work to build features that are needed alongside Valve's development. The important thing for now is that it's active and we are given feedback on what is needed.

Currently the useability and functions are very limited and i ask of you to bear with us until these features are expanded into something more familiar and even extended beyond what we are capable of with Dota1.

A brief explanation of how it will work:

Vouchers will vouch users into the league. They will do this by binding their steam usernames to their DLG accounts. They will also be in control of who is in/out.
You don't add your steam account yourself and VL players aren't auto vouched.
(I hope this is more clear now for the masses to understand)

Initial Vouchers:
Wilco (Mr Manual labour. Does the dirty work of adding people in our database)
Aussie
Maelk
Grunthor

Overseers will report to vouchers any abuse or misdemeanors they encounter.
Initial Overseers:
Alibambam
Ganked
Hades
Zieth
Turpin

You can contact Vouchers in the irc channel or via DLG in the Dota 2 forum section.
Vouchers = @
Overseers = +
More staff will be added as they are needed. Keeping it low on purpose to begin with.

A separate forum section will be created for the Dota2 League related issues. (Coming soon)

Game lobbies will be hosted on Dotalicious just like in Dota1. Once games are filled and active the player in Blue slot will be in charge of opening the game in steam.
(click to show/hide)

Server should be Automatic.
Password needs to be set as defined by Dotalicious and changes for each game. Passwords are generated using 3 characters with a-z, A-Z, 1-9. Easy enough to remember so that you don't need to tab out to check it but long enough to be to complicated for outsiders to "guess".
Game name is strongly recommended but not enforced. This makes it easier find the replays later.

Once the game is over you will need to enter score so that a winner is known.
(click to show/hide)
Do this on the same Dotalicious page as the game table was hosted.
Leavers if any need to be entered here also. It's up to you guys if you don't want to mark someone as a leaver but it is recommended for obvious reasons. 4 votes is enough to be marked.
Abusing this function just as entering wrong results will land you a penalty. Act as grownups guys...

Once enough scores are entered the game results will be shown instantly and you are free to join a new game.

Currently we can only track the following due to Steam limitations and game functionality:
Win/loss %
Reliability/Leaves %
Captain win% (to be implemented very soon)
game length (from start to score is entered. Exact game time not possible as of yet until further dev with Valve)

IRC channel is #D2LGIH (quakenet)
This channel is not essential at all to play. It's merely a tool for players to talk to each other outside of DLG. It's also a great place to search for CW's/scrims for obvious reasons. We will implement a clan war search function into Dotalicious soon also for Dota2. One already exists for Dota1.

For the initial first month we will offer a small prizepool of $300usd. $150 for first place, $50 for second, $50 for third and $50 for most games played. During this month all games will be Matchmaking.

Once this month is over and the league is running properly there will be Non-Matchmaking games offered also. The prizepool will also be much bigger.
During this time i want players to communicate changes, adaptations and tweaks they wish implemented to us. This will both make it easier for us to adapt ourselves as well for us to develop ourselves together Valve. We will then reset the ladders and offer the 50 most active players a small bonus in the next season. Season length from that point on is yet to be decided but will most likely be 2-3 months.

The initial playerbase will be a maximum of 200 players for the first season.
Season 1 starts Sunday 13/11/2011 and ends Tuesday 13/12/2011
For season 2 and onwards we will divide up 2 separate pools of players. This will partly be based on Season 1 results. 1 pro/high skilled and 1 midd/high skilled.
As said earlier. Non Matchmaking games will be offered then also. This first month is a trial month to make everything work smoothly and to custom tailor any changes needed/wanted to the players needs and wants.
Initially this league will only be semi-public. You can apply but don't hope to get in yet. For season 2 we will open up the second division to the public much more.

First Person Streamers are always welcome to stream their games here. If they want embeds/announcements on our site then contact Aussie.
Shoutcasting streamers should also contact Aussie.

To play Dota 2 through Dotalicious you will need your existing approved account. New players will need to create an account and then approve it.
To approve your account you will need to download our client and follow the instructions. The client is only needed once to approve your account as it prevents multiaccounting but will not be needed for actual dota 2 games.
Dota 1 penalties do not carry through into Dota 2 games. Dota 1 and Dota 2 statistics are separate.

Applications go here

Dungeon Level introduction

Soon a whole new Skill Level ( SL ) system will be implemented into Dotalicious.
The dungeon is now open!

The reason for this is that we have grown so much lately and our old system is no longer optimal for such a large user base.

The new system is nearly finished but still needs more work as well as testing. The first step though is introducing a completely new area of play which we are calling "the Dungeon".

What the Dungeon is and what it's for:
The dungeon is only for banned players.

Anyone who is time banned from DLG due to various offenses are forced to play their games somewhere else. This in reality is both bad for us since we lose those players as well as being bad for them since they don't really care about the ban enough not to try more actively to avoid it. Banning players is an old and outdated system employed by other platforms for many years but has never actually been a good system for anyone since this really only works when there are limited places to play your games.
By introducing this area banned players can play with other banned players so they still get to use our platform but completely without stat tracking or any other benefits. All players will be auto muted in Dungeon games as well as it only allowing MM games to avoid banned mates abusing it. This will also make games start much faster for the sake of activity. Eventually we might allow non banned players to play in the dungeon as well but only under certain circumstances but this will come later.

If you fill one or more of the below criteria you will be automatically excluded from playing public games and instead will only be able to play in our dungeon:
  • People who are banned less than 25 days but more than 0 days.
  • People who have 6 or more active penalties

This is the same as before when it comes to bans. Banned players simply couldn't play at all.
Now though players without bans but with a high amount of active penalties will also be considered unworthy and cast off into the Dungeon to play their games instead of letting them mix with our law abiding citizens.

This is a brief explanation and mostly a heads up about it incoming.
Exact details and a further explanation will be added once we implement it so stay tuned!

Make sure you follow our Twitter and Facebook for daily updates and news

Extended Explanation:
  • No statistics will be tracked
  • Everyone is automatically muted in-game to avoid flame wars
  • It's not supposed to be moderated or even enjoyable there. It's simply so you can crush your dota addiction while being banned.
  • Only banned players can play there
  • You get put in the Dungeon when you have more than 6 active penalties (Not penalty points but actual separate penalties)
    Or
When you are banned for up to 25 days. More than 25 day bans and you can't even play in the Dungeon
